Prof Mpiko Ntsekhe BA (Brown); MD (Columbia); MPhil (UCT); PhD (UCT); FCP (SA); Certificate in Cardiology (SA)and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (F.A.C.C) currently serves as the Hellen and Morris Mauerberger Professor and Chair of the Division of Cardiology, at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur  Hospital, a position he has held since 2012. Prior to this he was the Director of the Catheter Laboratory and Senior Consultant at Groote Schur Hospital and Senior Lecturer atthe University of Cape Town. He was the inaugural Edith Sorrel Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine at UCT from 2007-2009.

Prof Ntsekhe has a well established publication track record. This includes four book chapters, numerous peer reviewed articles in high impact journals such as Circulation, Nature Cardiology Reviews and European Heart Journal. He has been a reviewer for a number of prestigious journals, is on the BMJ Board of International Fellows  and currently servies on the ediotrial board of Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes. He is a member of a number of national and international societies including the American College of Cardiology, Pan African Society of Cardiology, AfricaPCR where he is a co-director, the South African Society of Cardiovascular Interventionalists and the South African Heart Association where he is an executive committee member.  He is a frequent speaker at local and international congresses and society meetings.
